Cher Lloyd says Ne-Yo collaboration could be a great summer song
While many people continue to criticise television series like The X Factor, the fact remains that the show continues to discover and produce some impressive artists. One such act is British star Cher Lloyd, who is gaining a positive reputation in the US, working with some impressive stars.
Cher is collaborating with Ne-Yo on a new track and she says that it has the making of being a great summer song, “I’m excited about being on stage this summer, seeing the fans is always great. This summer my collaboration with Ne-Yo will be coming out and we are performing it at the iHeart Radio Music Festival in September,” Cher told The Examiner.
She added, “I think the ingredients to a great summer song is something you hear on the radio and immediately turn it up and want to dance to it. This is what Ne-Yo and I are hoping to create with the help of our fans as they continue to tweet, post on Facebook and use Instagram to tell us their “It’s All Good” moment.”
As well as working on a track with Ne-Yo, Cher Lloyd has also recorded a song with X Factor USA judge Demi Lovato. Cher and Demi collaborated on the song Really Don’t Care and Cher has admitted that she loved working with Demi on the track.

Here at Sugarscape, we’re quite partial to a bit of Demi Lovato. And, funnily enough, we’d class ourselves as pretty big Cher Lloyd fans. So obviously when we heard the pair’s duet ‘Really Don’t Care’ from Demi’s upcoming album we flailed about a lot and deemed it the best thing to happen to the world since the birth of Harry Styles.
But one question that’s been nagging our little pop brains is how this whole thing came about – and thankfully Cher’s been chatting about the track and revealed exactly that. Hoorah.
Singer/rapper extraordinnaire Cher’s been chatting to MTV about the song, saying: “First of all, I love the song. Like, I really love the song. And I was very excited to put my kind of twist on it.” Oh how we love a good Cher Lloyd ‘twist’. Remember when she did Coldplay’s ‘Viva La Vida’ at X Factor boot camp and somehow managed to shoehorn Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods and Oprah Winfrey into it? PIONEERING.
And our fave Molvern marvel just couldn’t stop herself fangirling over Demetria, adding: “I have ‘Skyscraper’ and I am constantly listening to it, and I can gladly say that it makes me tear up a little bit. I mean, that girl can really sing, and it’s so different. That’s the thing, nowadays it’s so important to be able to be recognised and to be on the radio and for people to know automatically it’s you. And Demi has that and that’s something I really look up to.”
Agh, we love them. In an ideal world they’d form a pop power duo a la PJ & Duncan and slay the world with their amazing tunes. Until then, though, we can just listen to this on repeat. Yay.
Cher Lloyd is certainly no stranger to the small screen. She got her start as a contestant on “X Factor” U.K., and now U.S. audiences will be treated to her bold, feisty persona when she appears on “Big Time Rush.”
“I’m very nervous to see it, actually. I haven’t seen it and this is the first thing I’ve ever really done within acting. You know because I’m a singer I can kind of be let off a little bit if it’s rubbish,” she laughed to MTV News. “I had such a great time there. And it was kind of crazy because you see the other actors and actresses and they’re so young and yet they’ve been doing it for such a long time. They’re so experienced. And then someone like me who gets to be onstage all the time, it was quite difficult.”
Cher plays herself in an episode airing Thursday on Nick. Her drama revolves around Big Time Rusher James, who creates an Internet rumor he’s recording with the Brit pop singer. Lloyd added, “I was very impressed and kind of blown away by the fact that they were so good.”
See Who Else Is Slated To Appear On “Big Time Rush” This Season!
After her “BTR” appearance airs, Cher will put the finishing touches on her sophomore album. And, on it, the “Want U Back” singer is set to show the world how much she’s grown as a performer since dropping Sticks & Stones.
“I would say that the album’s almost done now and I’m very excited about it. But I feel like the person I am now is very different to the person I was two years ago when I recorded Sticks & Stones. And I feel like I’ve obviously grown up and I have such a different opinion of the world we live in now. And I have different opinions on how I am musically and how I am personally,” she said. “And that definitely shows through on many of the tracks on the new album.”
Cher Lloyd Locks In Cameos With Demi Lovato, Ne-Yo!
While Lloyd is known for gutsy, up-tempo jams, she’ll slow it down more on her next release. She added that she doesn’t “feel like I’m the bubble gum princess I used to be.”
“It’s gonna make a lot of people aware of the fact that I feel very strong and I feel very ready and that’s the whole vibe I’m giving off with this next album,” she said. “Just listening back to some of the songs that I recorded, I feel great about the fact that people are actually going to be able to hear me sing and to really hear my voice. There a good couple of songs on this next album that could probably bring up a tear or two.”
There are many people who try to have a pop at shows such as The X Factor and The Voice, claiming that the shows unveil acts who are ruining the music scene. However, The X Factor has produced so many stars over the years, including the highly talented Cher Lloyd. Cher has made some big moves in the US, working with some big stars and she has talked about her collaboration with Demi Lovato.
Talking to MTV News, Lloyd explained:
“First of all, I love the song. Like, I really love the song and I was very excited to put my kind of twist on it. I have ‘Skyscraper’ and I am constantly listening to it, and I can gladly say that it makes me tear up a little bit. I mean, that girl can really sing, and it’s so different.”
She added:
“That’s the thing, nowadays it’s so important to be able to be recognized and to be on the radio and for people to know automatically it’s you. And Demi has that and that’s something I really look up to. And I think me and Demi are in some ways kind of similar. We have quite a young fanbase, and this is very much a girl power song. You know, it has a great feel to it, and I’m so excited that people get to hear it now”
And the good things do not stop there for Cher Lloyd. As well as working with Demi Lovato, Cher is also working on a collaborative track with Ne-Yo. Cher says that she and Ne-Yo are getting all the components together and should have the track completed later this year.
